The man currently on trial for manslaughter for the death of Michael Jackson has said that it was drug use that killed the pop star and that he was regularly in touch with the singer to ensure that his vital signs were being monitored through use of items like pulse oximeters, which were attached to the singer's fingers after Jackson had trouble sleeping one night. The doctor says he gave Jackson less of the drug that the doctor believed the pop star was becoming addicted to and monitored him all night long the night before his death.

An interesting link has been discovered between plaque that occurs around the eyelids and patients who might be at an increased risk of myocardial infarction or severe atherosclerosis. Around thirteen thousand patients were studied in Denmark which suggested that severe atherosclerosis as measured by an ankle brachial index was made apparent by the presence of xanthelasmata and ischemic heart disease. These eyelid markers have the potential to be labeled as a precursor to proatherogenic changes within the body which might also be a sign of atherosclerosis. The presence of multiple indicators increased the risk of ischemic heart disease.
