The laws of each country often differ based on what type of government a country has and the laws of a communist country would likely be quite different from what would be experienced in a country that practiced democratic socialism or democracy. A country whose laws differ somewhat from the United States is Canada which, although it shares a border with the U.S. has some fairly different rules of which Ottawa criminal lawyers must be aware. For example, there are "hybrid offenses" in Canadian law that allows prosecutors to prosecute an offense as either an indictable offense or a summary conviction.
